Position description

The Department of English at 91AV invites applications for the following two part-time, stipendiary positions:

ENGL 1801: Introduction to Prose Fiction, Fall 2025: This course will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. (3 contact hours per week) with a projected class size of 50.

Note: ENGL1801 is a first-year course without prerequisites, so for most of the students, this will be their first experience of studying English at the university level. The course typically offers a selection of short stories and novels from different genres and traditions.

ENGL 1201D: Introduction to Principles of Literary Analysis, Winter 2026: This course will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. (3 contact hours per week) with an approximate class size of 45.

Note: ENGL 1201 is offered in multiple sections each year, and the course introduces students to critical and academic approaches to reading, writing, and thinking about literature. Each section has its own reading list, set by the individual instructor, and includes a balanced representation of fiction, poetry, and drama, drawn from a range of historical periods. Each section offers a range of writing opportunities.
